MapMyFitness    February 2006 - Present
Co-Founder, Chief Technologist

Co-founded, designed, and developed a suite of fitness oriented websites, incluing mapmyrun.com, mapmyride.com, and mapmywalk.com.  MapMyFitness websites provide community-based fitness content, tools, calculators, and mapping technologies.  Business and technology leadership from pre-startup phase through present-day growth, supporting over 500,000 registered users and in a network of fitness related websites.

Accomplishments Include:

Technology
Lead developer for an interactive Google Maps based web application utilizing JavaScript, jquery, php, web services.  Project manager and developer for a Google phone ('Android') GPS/LBS application.  Infrastructure architect and administrator for a load balanced array of servers and services(LAMP, Content Delivery Networks, Amazon EC2/S3 services).   MySQL optimization, including development of a custom hot fail-over software layer between replicated servers; query optimization.  Created an advertising platform for geographic-specific targeting and on-map interaction.  Integrated open source forum software.  Web-based GPS/GIS product development, including conversion tools for various formats including  kml/kmz (Google Earth).  Created an elevation profile imaging web service using raw USGS data.    

Business
Develop business and pricing models across a variety of products (online advertising, content, consulting).  Develop content syndication strategies and technology.  Provide guidance and support to sales team throughout sales process and contract negotiation.  Client relations,  Investor relations.

NetStreams    January 2005 - May 2006
Senior Firmware Engineer

Designed and developed firmware for DigiLinx line of streaming audio and home control products:  Ported Java Virtual Machine to custom firmware running on TI 6711;  Developed features for streaming synchronous audio to multiple locations over multi-cast UDP; Lighting control features.  Design hardware and software for testing of product line: Embedded x86 test platform with audio analysis and DAQ interface; Automated test development; Supported deployments for internal engineering development and in overseas manufacturing facilities.  Leveraged technology includes C, C++, C#, Java, Windows CE, Windows XP embedded, DAQs, Logic Analyzers, oscilloscopes.

 

Advanced Micro Devices (AMD)    January 1999 - January 2005
Product Development Engineer, Software Engineer

Product Development Engineer in the Systems Debug Lab: Root-cause failure analysis of enterprise server platforms. Leverage hardware and software tools to diagnose and solve customer critical issues. Tools include debugging software, logic analyzers, and oscilloscopes. Create custom software as necessary, to aid debug effort. Specializations include DDR signal integrity tools and analysis, and Linux system debug. Experience working with internal and external engineering teams, project management, and marketing groups.

Software Research and development: Authored bring up diagnostics for eighth-generation PC microprocessors, motherboards, and chip-sets. Project Leader of a HyperTransport™ and DDR pattern generator suite used for characterizing new platform designs. Low-level programming in C and assembly.  Designed and implemented Linux and Windows client/server interfaces. Linux kernel modification and module development for i386 and x86-64. Developed diagnostic test strategies for Linux based systems, including a custom Linux distribution for diagnostic deployment across multiple platforms. Embedded systems design of USB peripherals used for automated system test.

Co-op engineer: Completed 6 full-time work terms spanning the the Information Technology and Software Research and Development departments.  Earned a Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer certification while working first term in three months.
